About Ribotto...
Ribotto came here from a far away
land which would only be considered
exotic to a connaisseur of classic rock
and ATV hunting. Frigid cold winters
in the solitude of Northwestern Ontario
allowed for a lot of time to focus on
music. His passion evolved further
beyond classical piano recitals and
electric guitar solos once he began
studying fine art just outside of
Toronto. Here, his musical scholarship
grew and diversified with his
involvement in what had previously
been an geographically inaccessible
electronic music scene and his time
spent working as a late night DJ for the
community radio station. After
completing art college, he ventured
west and south living from his car and
surviving as a street performer
swinging albums from the trunk. This
journey led him to the infamous Venice
boardwalk where he continued to
pursue his dreams punctuated by
frequent escapes to the mojave for
psychedelic desert parties. This
bohemian lifestyle took him eventually
to San Francisco, where he decided to
settle down and take care of business.
Today, Ribotto is hard at work. By day,
he is an associate with a digital music
distribution company and at night he
continues to work unremittingly as an
undiscovered rockstar. Since the
official launch of Ribotto Productions in
early 2007, relentless studio efforts
have resulted in the publishing and
distribution of 6 titles to the farthest
reaches of the information
superhighway. Often incorporating a
fusion of electronic and organic
sounds, his projects have covered a
broad genre spectrum ranging from
folk-rock to electronic lounge.
Collaborating with musicians and
collectives such as the LowPro Lounge
and Symbiosis Events, his stage show
has taken on many permutations. The
early day sound of acoustic blues sung
on the boardwalk has been enhanced
by the recent developments modern
music technology. Although he can
still be found on stage keeping true to
his roots by fronting a band or backing
on the keys, more recent
performances have featured live P.A.
sets integrating sequenced loops
combined with improvised instrumental
action. Unafraid to explore and pioneer
new sonic territories, the shows are
tailored to the occasion, so whether its
blues/triphop or minimal tech house,
spectators can expect to experience a
show they've never seen nor will they
witness again.
